The Water Quality Division includes programs for public water supplies as well as municipal and industrial water pollution control. The proper disposal of sludge is regulated by the Division and beneficial reuse is strongly encouraged.

The Water Quality Divsion provides training and certification for drinking water and municipal wastewater operators. The Division coordinates permit tracking information with DEQ's other programs. It reviews and processes all plans and specifications for water and wastewater facilities, as well as applications for water and wastewater program permits and licenses, including the licensing and regulation of septic tank cleaners.

The Division provides a rapid response to concerns and complaints of the public on water and wastewater issues, and maintains a strong, swift and sensible enforcement program to achieve compliance with appropriate statues and rules designed to protect the public health and environment.
