The tornadoes that devastated central Oklahoma left an estimated 500-thousand cubic yards of debris. The DEQ is working with the municipalities and the Corps of Engineers contractor on the waste management solution appropriate for each community. This picture shows in graphic detail the enormous damage caused in Moore, Oklahoma as the F-5 twister with winds clocked at 318 mph tore through this subdivision. Along the more than thirty mile long center path of this tornado, houses, business and vehicles were churned into a giant mix of every kind of debris imaginable. This photo was taken by Curtis Worthy from his parents front yard looking at the house across the street near the intersection of 27th and Janeway. |
