Household Hazardous or Special Waste Collection Days
DEQ does not come out and provide service to pick up either recycling or Household Hazardous Waste.
The local community listed sponsors these collection days; if your community is not listed there are several options for you.
1.) You should try to contact the county extension office, public works or sanitation department in your area. Find out if they are going to have a similar event, and when.
2.) Household hazardous waste or pollutants are exempt from hazardous waste regulations. This is waste created from residential homes not a business, therefore you may dispose of them in the waste with your trash.
3.) For more information on alternatives to these household pollutants that are non- toxic or less toxic contact the county extension office or the Department of Environmental Quality, Land Protection Division at (405) 702-5295.
