Student Internships

DEQ frequently employs student interns. Candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Students may be hired in a general clerical or technical classification. Those individuals wishing to be considered as a student intern must submit the required student verification form.

Student status requirements:
Must be enrolled in:

10 or more credit hours per semester of undergraduate college course work or 6 or more credit hours per summer semester ; or
5 or more credit hours per semester of graduate college course work or 3 or more credit hour per summer session

A general clerical student may be attending college to obtain a degree in any field. A technical student is usually one who is obtaining a degree in a biological science, chemistry, geology, hydrology, physical geography, environmental science, civil, mechanical or chemical engineering, accounting or business/finance, computer science or management information systems.

Students may work no more than 30 hours per week. Hours worked while classified as a student intern do not count against the 999 hour allotment for temporary employees.

Those interested in student internships should e-mail resumes to DEQ recruitment e-mail. Resumes will remain on file for 6 months at a time, and an updated resume must be submitted for continued consideration.
