Title Office of External Affairs

Communities and Local Government

DEQ Meeting

DEQ seeks to make it easier for communities to meet the requirements of the law. The goal is to provide communities with the assistance they need in light of limited resources.

Technical Assistance

Are you interested in environmental benefits, cost savings, and improved quality of life for residents? The Office of External Affairs (OEA) can provide confidential technical assistance to local governments without the threat of enforcement.

DEQ and OEA can assist in developing a broad understanding of environmental and health risks at the local level, setting priorities, and taking action to build healthy communities.

Contact the Office of External Affairs for planning assistance, training or other services.

Regulatory Assistance

OEA can help you with understanding environmental regulations, permit applications, and other information related to air quality, water quality, solid and hazardous waste.

Compliance Assistance

Compliance assistance means helping local governments and tribes achieve and/or maintain compliance with environmental regulations.  DEQ, through OEA, can provide personalized counseling, publications, and training.

Contact OEA to find out what laws apply to you, what you need to do to comply, and identify tools and resources that can help you comply with environmental regulations.

Grant Assistance

DEQ along with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) provides grants and low-interest loans for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. Other agencies providing grants and loans include USDA Rural Development, Department of Commerce and the Indian Health Service.

EPA supports a variety of grant programs that develop and sustain environmental programs.  Visit
