Laboratory
Services Advisory Council
The Laboratory Services Advisory Council is responsible for
recommending rules to the Environmental Quality Board in the
areas of Laboratory Certification [27A-2-4-301] and Laboratory
Services [27A -2-4-201]. The Laboratory Certification rules
govern the DEQ's program for accreditation of environmental
laboratories in the areas of general water quality, and drinking
water. Commercial, municipal and private laboratories participate
in this program which is required by some environmental programs
and recommended by others. The Laboratory Services rules establish
the fee schedule for the DEQ's State Environmental Laboratory.
The DEQ laboratory provides analytical services to public
water supplies, DEQ's air, water and land protection programs
and to other state agencies. Members of the Laboratory Services
Advisory Council represent various constituencies that are
participants in the laboratory certification program, use
the services of certified labs and/or are experts in the fields
of science that that environmental labs practice.
